Workshop Series Information

Who should enroll?

These online workshops represent a professional development opportunity ideal for student support personnel (including school counselors, social workers, and adjustment counselors) working primarily in K-8 settings.

Enrollment for this hands-on collaborative workshop series will be limited. Participants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Workshop Description

Out-of-school factors profoundly affect learning, and the COVID-19 crisis has only intensified the need to address these factors. In response to the current climate, many schools are offering targeted responses to students’ and families’ ongoing and most pressing needs (e.g., basic needs, technology access). Research findings and on-the-ground experience highlight the fact that, to most effectively address these needs in the long-term and to facilitate learning over time, schools should adopt a systemic, whole-child approach to student support. This three-session workshop will provide school-based professionals the opportunity to deepen their understanding of systemic approaches to student support and to develop practical tools for supporting students during COVID-19 and beyond. 

Program Benefits

After participating in this session, educators will:

• Identify ways to leverage systems of student support to promote holistic development.
• Develop practical tools for understanding and addressing students’ holistic development, prior to the end of the school year.
• Collaborate with peers to share progress and plan for continued systemic student support into the summer and fall.

Certification of Completion

The Lynch School is a Massachusetts-approved provider of Professional Development Points (PDPs). 10 PDPs will be provided upon completion of the workshop sessions and all workshop assignments. We encourage non-Massachusetts practitioners and educators to also participate in this workshop. Non-Massachusetts participants will receive a certificate of completion that can be applied towards state-specific professional development requirements.

Please note that participants will not receive academic credit nor a transcript documenting their participation in this workshop series through Boston College. However, all participants will be awarded a certificate of completion and Professional Development points to apply to their professional development plans. 

Fees & Policies
Tuition includes all instructional materials. Participants receive a certificate of participation and professional development points. Payment is due by credit card at registration. Refunds cannot be issued once the series begins.
