Workshop Information

Dates: Tuesday, August 3 and Thursday, August 5

Time: 9:00 - 10:30 am ET

Location: Online (Zoom)

Who Should Enroll?
The online workshop series has been designed as a professional development opportunity for K-12 educators, school leaders, guidance counselors, family liaisons, parents and guardians. .

Workshop Description:

The impact of stress has far-reaching consequences in the classroom, affecting executive function, behavior and learning. With the spike in anxiety in children and teens, teachers, administrators, parents and mental health professionals need to be equipped with key information, tips and quick strategies to decrease stress, build metacognition and help anxious students face their fears. When you foster the development of executive function and give anxiety what it needs—not what it wants—students are empowered to take more ownership of their learning, which helps them stress less, think better and learn more.

Program Benefits:

After participating in both workshop sessions, educators will:

  • Describe how anxiety works and affects the mind and body
  • Identify patterns of anxiety and how to interrupt them
  • Demonstrate an actionable strategy to manage anxiety
  • Describe executive function and its connection to stress/anxiety
  • Demonstrate tips and strategies to build executive function and metacognition, particularly in regard to organization, planning, routines, emotional regulation, self-monitoring and cognitive flexibility
  • Identify communication and accommodation tips

Advanced Reading:
