Description:

Participants in this PLC will engage with Boston College leadership faculty and guests to support one another navigating the current crisis, addressing key questions:

  • How must we rethink and adapt our educational vision and instructional approach given this situation?

  • How can we redesign support structures and roles to ensure different stakeholders, including students, families and teachers have what they need?

  • How do we develop strategic communication channels to foster community amidst remote learning?

  • How do we adapt school and district policies to meet new, unanticipated demands?

  • What kinds of equity issues have emerged or been made visible through this crisis?

 

We will focus on proactive planning for reopening in the Fall by:

  • Discussing ongoing dilemmas raised by the crisis

  • Identifying key action steps prior to opening
  • Collaborating with peers on ‘reopening action plans’ for one another’s contexts

     

Timeline and Requirements:

  1. Four synchronous sessions during the summer: 

    • June 17 - Synchronous Session 3:30 - 5:00
    • June 24 - Synchronous Session 3:30 - 5:00
    • July 8 - Synchronous Session 3:30 - 5:00
    • July 15 - Synchronous Session 3:30 - 5:00

  2. Asynchronous independent work in between the summer sessions and for the rest of the summer, with optional 1-1 consultation with faculty.

  3. Two synchronous sessions during the fall as a follow-up:

    • September 23 - Synchronous Session 10:30 - 12:00
    • October 21 - Synchronous Session 10:30 - 12:00

Fees & Policies:

Tuition includes all instructional materials. Participants receive a certificate of participation and professional development points.

Payment is due by credit card at registration. Refunds will be granted only up to the first day of class/program.
