Module Description:

In this final module, you will be introduced to common multimedia authoring tools and platforms that enable you to design for interactivity and learner engagement. Choosing one of these tools, you will create a portfolio-ready interactive learning experience based on the instructional design specifications that you have developed in the previous three courses of this certificate.

Module Learning Objectives:

Module learning objectives are subject to change based on programmatic updates.

  1. Review potential authoring tools and platforms
  2. Evaluate authoring tools and platforms for the ability to feature human-centered design approaches.
  3. Incorporate rapid prototyping and the rapid instructional design model the preliminary development of the final portfolio-ready learning experience.
  4. Determine how authoring tools and platforms can present and evaluate formative and summative assessments.
  5. Determine a strategy for quality assurance for the portfolio-ready piece.
  6. Create a portfolio-ready interactive learning experience based on instructional design specifications.

Program Description:

The certificate in Instructional Design for Learning aims to develop individuals with skills and knowledge to step into the field as instructional designers. The non-credit micro-credentials are meant to serve as rigorous, skill-based, applied, five to six month offerings taught by practitioners in the field. Certificate students will develop workforce-ready instructional design skills through the development of a portfolio demonstrating their competency in instructional design.

Timeline and Requirements:

The module will take place from February 26th  - March 29th, 2024. Work will primarily be asynchronous, with one live session per module with your facilitator and your cohort during the third Wednesday of the module from 7:00 - 8:30 pm.

Fees & Policies:

Payment is due by credit card at registration. This module can only be taken as part of the Foundational Certificate: Instructional Design For Learning. Registration closes October 1st at 11:55pm. Refunds will be granted only up until registration closes. No refunds will be granted for registration or technical errors on the participant's part (such as incorrect name/email, login failure, etc.).

Jennifer Livengood began her career as a professor in recreation and sport management and transitioned to instructional design in 2010. She learned how to collaborate with subject matter experts to create engaging online courses in various science, liberal arts, medical, and technical subjects. Over the past ten years, Jennifer has developed a list of best practices and recommendations for developing online and face-to-face courses. She has also become proficient in designing engaging continuing education courses and uses software, such as Articulate Storyline and Rise, to develop interactive course content.
